The Square A Foundation, a non-profit organization in Augusta, GA, is committed to combating the opioid crisis in the CSRA area. We provide a range of services to those battling opioid addiction, including 24/7 crisis support, treatment referrals, support groups, and educational programs
Some stats on why we do what we do:
According to the Center for Disease Control, the opioid epidemic is a significant issue in the CSRA area and across the U.S.
In 2020, over 200 opioid-related deaths were reported in the CSRA area.
Nationally, there were approximately 109,600 drug-overdose-related deaths in the 12-month period ending January 31, 2023.
The number of overdose deaths involving opioids in 2021 was 10 times the number in 1993.
Overdoses involving opioids killed more than 80,000 people in 2021.
We're here to help
Factors contributing to this crisis include overprescription of opioids and an influx of heroin and synthetic opioids.
Lack of access to treatment is also a significant barrier.
The Square A Foundation is addressing this crisis by providing free services to those affected by opioid addiction and their families. We are raising awareness about the epidemic and advocating for policies that address it.
